I loved acting in grade school and was a class clown. My first act was a cigar smoking detective in the fourth or fifth grade. You can see me sitting at a table in the restaurant in the movie “Shallow Hal” starring Jack Black and Jason Alexander. You had better have a keen eye and not blink. Non speaking part. I did have the opportunity to talk with Jason for quite a while during setup as he was kneeling at my side waiting to spring up toward Jack in the scene. I was paid as an extra. The film was shot on location in Charlotte, NC. I lived in Irvine, California during the early 80′s and always wanted to go into acting as a profession but I also liked to eat, pay rent and drive fancy sports cars, so I kept my day job.

I gravitate toward police dramas and fit the “profile” of that type person, so the film and the character(s) was an easy transition for me. Although I do not drink alcohol of any form I have had exposure throughout my life with alcoholics and addicts. I suppose my character would be described as a functioning alcoholic. Acting is easy, real life is difficult.

I’m thankful for the opportunity and the wonderful people I met and hope the future has more acting in store for me.  All in all a great time.
